Fix Start-Up Time
Start up time is the time taken by windows to load and become fully functional.There can be a variety of reasons to Windows loading slow during start up.You can decrease your start up time by removing some of the programs and services which loads on the start up of Windows.
To remove,
Go to Run, type msconfig and hit enter.
Under the ‘Start Up’ tab, uncheck the unwanted programs and press OK.
Your system will load faster the next time Windows boots.
 
Fix loading of Start Menu
►Remove the unwanted shortcuts from the start menu.
►Type start menu in Run, now go to Programs, then create a new folder and group some of the shortcuts.
►For advanced users, go to Run , type ‘regedit’ and press Enter.

now go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER→Control Panel→Desktop. Look for MenuShowDelay, and double click to edit the value. The lower the number specified, the faster the Start Menu will load.

Defragmentation
Defragmenting your drives may help a lot in improving system’s performance.To defagment a drive,right click on the drive and under the tools tab press Defragment now.If you are not satisfied with windows  Disk defragmentation utility(as windows tools are mostly slower) you can get a third party defragmentation software like FastDefragPro,Defraggler etc.

Software Installation
First of all don’t keep on installing softwares,install only those which will be needed by you for others you can just keep the setup in hard drive.Moreover, do not install softwares on your windows drive as filling up that drive will slow your computer operations.
 
Fix ‘Send To’ Menu

If the system’s send to menu loads slowly,type sendto in run dialog,now remove some of the unwanted items.This will improve the speed of the sendto menu.

Permanent Delete
Permanent delete, the unwanted junk files, or left over files after uninstalling the programs.To delete files and folders permanently try third party softwares like Easttec Eraser,File Deleter etc.

 

Visual Effects

Windows supports a lot visual effects and animations,many of them which are not noticeable but they occupy memory,so you can stop these effects to free up some ram.To disable right click on the icon of My Computer and select properties then go to advanced tab and click on settings under performance,now unselect the effects which you don’t need.

Registry and Malwares
Repair your registry regularly to keep your windows healthy.for this use Registry Mechanic or CCleaner.Malware is any type of malicious software such as spyware, or adware that harms your computer’s performance.They generally does not get caught by anti-virus programs so anti-virus softwares has a separate utility called anti-malware which could help you to improve your system performance.
 
Remove Junk Files

There is lot junk and unnecessary files which get collected by the course of time like temporary system files,temporary internet file, unneeded application data.To remove all these files use DiskMax or CCleaner.

 
Booting
Always try hibernate your computer to keep away from the problem of slow booting.You can also boot up faster by altering the prefetch value in the registry.
→To change type regedit in run window.
→Locate the following key in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlSessionManagerMemoryManagementPrefetchParameters
→For safety backup the keys by exporting them to a .reg file(To backup go to file and select backup).
→4 options are available for prefetching:-
0- Selecting this option sets that Prefetching is disabled.
1- Selecting this option enables prefetching of Applications only 
2- Selecting this option enables boot prefetching.
3- Selecting this option enables boot and Application prefetching.

If you don’t want to take the risk of altering registry settings you can remove some of the unnecessary prefetch files from C:WINDOWSPrefetch.
